Toxicity

In these tests the Humic Acid blend that is used in Humic Complex™ products was tested to see if there were any toxic or negative effects on the cells of live animals. No inhibition or cell damage was observed.

Southern REsearch Institute
Toxicity testing against six HIV–infected cell lines (PBMC, CEMSS, U1, ACH2, monocyte macrophages, and HeLa CD4 LTR β–gal) of three synthetic humic acids and one natural-product humic acid. Cell viability remained greater than 99% with all humic acid treatments at dose levels up to 100 μg/mL.

Toxicity testing of three synthetic humic acids and one natural–product humic acid on five cell lines (Daudi, HFF, MDCK, BSC-1, LLC-MK₂) infected with herpes, influenza, and hemorrhagic fever viruses. No abnormal cell morphology or cell death with any humic acid at concentrations up to 100 μg/mL. No inhibition of cell proliferation with synthetic or natural–product humic acids at any concentration up to 50 μg/mL.

Humic acid was tested for toxicity with human platelets (5 replicates) at 25 μg/mL (25 ppm). There was no statistical difference from Day 1 to Day 5 in the platelet counts, that is, this concentration of humic acid had no effect on platelet viability.

BioScreen Research
This study was of live-animal acute toxicity (14–day observation period). Mice were injected intravenously with three concentrations each of three synthetic humic acids and one natural–product humic acid. One hundred twenty Swiss Webster mice were employed in the study. Injections were made in the tail veins. No toxicity was seen in any of the mice at any concentration of any of the humic acids.
